Die kopierst oder verschiebst die auf eine externe Festplatte und wenn Windows 10 drauf ist, tust du die 3000 Fotos dort einfach bei Fotos wieder reinkopieren in einen Ordner den du unter Fotos erstellt hast.

Das dürfte klappen, so eine hab ich...hab nur bisschen Befürchtung ob danach der Netzwerkdrucker, router (Telefon/Internet) etc wieder laufen 🙈

Der Router hat doch mit der Windows - Installation nichts zu tun. Der ist danach immer noch genauso eingestellt wie vorher.

Das sollte von alleine funktionieren. Nur den Netzwerkdrucker musst Du evtl. neu einrichten. Aber Windows 10 wird vom Router ganz normal eine IP bekommen.

Router brauchste dir keine Gedanken machen an dem wird nichts geändert da hat Xynthetic dir schon richtig geantwortet.

Bevor er überhaupt was macht, sollte er mal die Hardwaredaten durchgeben. Damit man sagen kann ob sich das ganze Vorhaben überhaupt noch lohnt.

Da aber der Rechner nur als Surfstation genutzt wird, ist mir nicht wirklich begreiflich, warum es Windows sein muss ich könnte das verstehen, wenn man auf Microsoft Office angewiesen ist oder andere windows-only-software. Aber nur Browser und und ein paar Bilder betrachten, für diesen Firlefanz muss man sich nun wirklich keinen Windows-Klotz ans Bein binden...

Meiner Meinung nach sollte darauf Windows 10 laufen. Obwohl ein Linux für den Einsatzzweck sicher reichen würde und auf der Hardware auch noch viel besser laufen würde.

Windows 10 läuft da locker drauf. Ich fasse mal die wichtigsten Infos zusammen aus diesem dicken Zeichenblock vom TO:

MSI H61M-P31 (G3) (MS-7788)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz
8 GiB (8192 MiB) DDR3 SDRAM
TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 (1TB = 1000 GB = 931 GiB)


Die 1-TB-Festplatte würde ich durch eine SSD tauschen.

Ich bin inzwischen sehr froh über meine Linux-VMs und benutze sie fast häufiger als meinen Windows 10 Host. Ist alles Gewöhnungssache.

Ich konnte schon einige überzeugen. Selbst meinen Vaddi konnte ich damals von Linux überzeugen, zwar nur auf unseren Partyschuppen-PC, aber immerhin. Auch einem älteren Nachbarn hab ich mit Linux zwangsbeglückt, weil der ständig sein Windows zerkloppt hat. Und der macht etwas mehr als die Schwiegereltern des TO in diesem Thread. (Firefox, Thunderbird, Office)

Windows sollte man wirklich nur verwenden, wenn es nicht anders geht. Der Aufwand, ein Windowssystem zu pflegen, ist einfach viel zu hoch. Selbst wenn man chocolatey nutzt, nervt das immens, alle installierten Programme damit aktuell zu halten.

Mich hast Du auch schon überzeugt Ich benutze meinen Windows 10 Brachial-Rechner nur noch zum Zocken. Alles andere mache ich in Linux-VMs.
